National Research Centre Demokritos
The National Centre for Scientific Research (NCSR) "Demokritos" is a self-governing research organisation under the supervision of the Greek Government. The total number of staff is about 700, including 100 post-graduate students. The Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications has accumulated very substantial expertise on mobile systems technology, UMTS, network design and security, bio-metrics, protocol engineering, formal specification methods, Intelligent Networks and open architectures. Key members of the staff have participated in numerous national and European projects, such as ACTS, CTS, ESPRIT, ECRAN, IST.
The National Centre for Scientific Research DEMOKRITOS is the biggest research centre in applied sciences and engineering in Greece. DEMOKRITOS is the home of the Greek National Host, a major node in the Greek National Research and Technology Network (GR-Net), and a protagonist in the development of advanced telecommunications and networking services in Greece.
